What originally comes to your mind when you view nude Portraits? Well, whatever the thoughts are, the photos you are about to see will captivate you at one glance. Not necessarily because of the nudity but the depth and significance creatively captured.
Saddi Khali, a Photovangelist (as he calls himself) uses photography to – capture the human body bared in its rawness- unravel beauty.
The strength of these images reveal beauty inherent in all body types, shattering the different standards of beauty the society has conditioned many to.
His style of photography aims to reclaim confidence in the beauty that lies bare, in owning one’s body regardless of body size or flaws. In his words,
I started taking pictures to capture a beauty I have no words to describe, to illuminate the miracles in the mundane, to make us see ourselves.
One of the testimonies from his session reflects how much the way we see ourselves can boost one’s healing process and courage to move on. A woman from South Africa wrote Saddi (@saddikhaliphotos) to narrate how she found the courage to leave with her 3 kids after enduring being treated lowly in her marriage for a long time. She wrote
The reason I am pouring my heart to you like this is because the courage to pack my bags and go came after looking at the images you took of me in that session. The Goddess that you captured in those photographs would not let me take anymore Shit from nobody. She saw right through my excuses and I was left with no choice but to do what I needed to do, which was pack my bags and go. Thanks for reminding me of my worth through making me see myself beautiful and worthy of respect, love and abundance.
