Recycle Art: Actus Reus

New York-based artist Tamara Kotianovsky for her series Actus Reus recreated raw and realistic pieces of a typical slaughterhouse from discarded fabrics, clothing, hooks and chains, reducing the cruelty of slaughtered livestock into plush.

Her butchered pieces were displayed using hooks and chains each grotesque pieces looking so real, emphasizing her intentions to confront viewers with the real and grotesque nature of violence, reflecting the vulnerability of our physical existences.

Tamara Kotianovsky is currently a faculty member at the school of Visual Arts and a lecturer at the Museum of Modern Art in New York.
