Ventricle is a gravity formed pair of structures that was built by Softlab; a New York based agency. This large heart shaped installation which symbolizes love was commissioned by the Southbank festival of love in London. The net-like hanging structures hang in the double height space adjacent to the Royal Festival Hall. With each weightless aluminum structure made of intertwined tubes clothed in 3M’s solar film. The film is said to be applied to photo-voltaic panels to increase the sunlight they receive which enables the ventricle refract light cast a woven landscape of colour into the interior of the Southbank Centre. The heart looking structure is a contemporary translation of the hanging gardens of Babylon, a place of diverse cultures and languages. The concept of this Installation for the festival of love in London basically reflects how working together with love and ignoring our differences could yield an effective result.
