The rise of Urban Street Art has been tremendous over the years and so has the perception of it. Veering off from the traditional forms of art, Urban Street Art takes up a more daring approach; it takes art to the streets. Urban street art uses the streets as its canvas. This particular art form is of the city, relates to city life and is usually done by an artist who is of or has a passion for the city.

A major problem encountered by this art form on its rise is the issue of vandalism. Because the expression of this art is made manifest in public spaces and private properties, it is often seen as an act of vandalism and although this is for the most part true, this act of ‘vandalism’ is what validates it- this expression in public spaces; this is where urban street art breathes, this is where it thrives.
