A major problem encountered by this art form on its rise is the issue of vandalism. Because the expression of this art is made manifest in public spaces and private properties, it is often seen as an act of vandalism and although this is for the most part true, this act of ‘vandalism’ is what validates it- this expression in public spaces; this is where urban street art breathes, this is where it thrives.
